about me
Hi, and thank you for visiting Zephyri.com! As you may have surmised from the abundance of shocking
pink, or possibly that telling photo, I'm female. I live in the north of England and work as a freelance
illustrator and designer, while harbouring grander ambitions to work as a full time concept artist or make
my living from writing novels. I also occasionally dress up as a pirate.

So why Zephyri, of all the decidedly impossible things to spell as a domain name? The moniker has stuck
ever since, when asked what name I would like next to a piece I'd done for a friend, I somewhat jokingly
said I wanted it to be something artsy. The name Zephyri was born of the word zephyr, or the East Wind,
as I have a love of windy weather, with the suffix of the 'i' to make it decidedly more feminine and unique.
The more sites I used it on, the more sense it made to stick with it, even if I can't often spell it off the top of
my head.

I will try to make it available for you.

influences
Creativity in its many forms forms much of my day to day life and I’ve had many influences over the
years. Artists such as the mighty Brom, Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell first fired my desire to visualise worlds
beyond our own; the greatness of past painters such as Caravaggio, Bouguereau and the Leyendecker
brothers inspire me to constantly improve my technique; and modern day masters of the digital age like
Jason Chan and Andrew Jones constantly open my eyes to new ideas and ways of looking at art. I'm also
continuously inspired by animated feaures such as Ghost in The Shell, Gankutsuou and Ergo Proxy and
anything by Miyazaki and Disney.

Authors I love include David Gemmell, Ricardo Pinto, Maggie Furey, Raymond E Feist, Douglas Preston
and Lincoln Child, John Case, Mervyn Peake and Alexandre Dumas.

Author and Artist Janny Wurts is perhaps my biggest idol, as she deftly combines both skills and is one of
the most down to earth people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.

non art stuff
When not engaged in art, I spend my time writing, playing video games (I'm a huge Halo fangirl) or being
a heated cushion to one of my cats. To date, I have an almost fully fledged novel written, to the tune of
500 pages, a modern day action thriller. I hope to have a seperate site for that set up in the future, once its
publishing future is sorted, but there is artwork to be found for it in this gallery and my other online sites,
such as deviantART. I have one or two fantasy novels hiding in the wings to be written too, though art
commands too much of my time presently to flesh them out.
